Pilates & wellness community
Alma means soul in Spanish — one of the three languages I teach in. This was never going to be a place about becoming smaller. It's about what your body can do more of: sessions that meet you where you actually are, never more than three people in the room, and somewhere you'll want to stay long after the last stretch.
No joining fee, no membership, no pressure.

What is alma
I opened alma because I wanted a room where people from very different backgrounds could feel entirely themselves. Different countries, different ages, different histories — all in the same room, and nobody having to perform. The sessions are the reason to come. The people are usually why anyone stays.
My background is in public health and social work, and it shapes everything here. I care about preventing injury and illness, and about the kind of strength that lets you live a long life well. So our pilates is about the connection between mind and body, and about what you can do — not about dieting or losing weight.
Sessions
Every session is private or with people you bring. Whatever you work on, the room is yours — no rows, no back of the class.
One-on-one
Just you. For a specific goal, an old injury, or simply because you'd rather have the room to yourself.
Two of you
Bring a partner or a friend. The same attention as a private, and noticeably easier to keep turning up for.
Three of you
The most sociable way to do this, and the gentlest on the wallet. Come as a group of friends and stay for coffee.
New to pilates
The reformer looks intimidating. It isn't. We start with breath and alignment, and you leave knowing what every spring does.
All levels
No equipment, no ego. Classical mat work paired with breathwork — the softest landing into the practice.
All stages
Built with, not adapted for, pregnant and postpartum bodies. Bring the baby — genuinely, people do.
Beyond the mat
This is the reason alma exists. The studio has only just opened, so the gatherings are still finding their shape — which means whoever comes early gets to decide what they become.
A community night — a long table, a full room, everyone mid-conversation
Coffee, pastries, and no agenda. Open to members and anyone they bring along.
Some days shouldn't be about moving at all. Make something, talk, and let that be the whole evening.
Long table, one big meal, whoever can make it. Hopefully, in time, the night people plan their month around.
Where people find walking partners, recommend physios, and swap session times. Ask us to add you.
The space
Drop in any time we're open. No appointment, no tour script — just have a look around and stay for a coffee if you feel like it.

“Somewhere anyone can be entirely themselves — and leave better able to live the long life they want.”

Founder & Lead Instructor
I trained with BASI. I came to pilates thinking it was something for posture, and found it was far more than that — learning to move your mind and your body together is a long process, and I'm still in it.
I also came to it because I was getting older and could feel myself getting weaker. Pilates was what helped.
When I'm not at the studio you'll usually find me with my three children, or somewhere quiet soaking in an onsen. I travel whenever I can, and I teach in Japanese, English and Spanish — which is probably why the studio ended up with a Spanish name.
